Solid MCIA passenger service sought

The Bureau of Customs of the Port of Cebu and Aboitiz InfraCapital has committed to enhancing passenger services at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.

This comes as Cebu Customs district collector Atty. Ricardo Uy Morales II, CESE with Mactan Customs port collector Gerardo Campo discussed the plans with Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. deputy chief of Operations Aldwin Uy and Ricia Montejo, the head of the Terminal Operations International and Customer Experience.

Morales expressed his deep appreciation for the commitment displayed by Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. and GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp officials in striving for continuous improvement in airport services.

“Our partnership with AIC and GMCAC is a milestone in our collective journey to facilitate trade, bolster border protection, and enhance lawful revenue collection,” Morales said.

“It will also pave the way for MCIA to offer passengers a seamless and delightful travel experience. Together, we aim to position MCIA as a global leader in airport service excellence,” he added.

To recall, the MCIA underwent a significant transition in December 2022 when it was acquired by AIC.

As the new airport operator, the AIC — through the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority — introduced the ONECOLS initiative or the One-on-One Collaborative Sessions designed to foster constructive dialogues, address concerns, provide essential updates, and explore innovative developments at MCIA.

Recently, the MCIA was recognized as the first Philippine Airport to receive the Airport Customer Experience Level 1 Accreditation for Airport Service Quality from the Airports Council International.

In 2021, MCIA achieved the Airport Health Accreditation from ACI as acknowledgement on its relentless efforts in upholding the health and safety of passengers and airport personnel.

Meantime, Passenger Service of Terminal 2 of the MCIA, under the leadership of Morales, who was then the deputy collector for operations, made history by becoming the first airport of entry in the Philippines to be ISO 9001-2015 Certified.
