Birthdays are among the most celebrated milestones in one’s life, but perhaps especially more so on a young lady’s 18th birthday.
Thus, despite the formidable circumstances that have changed the world’s lifestyle over the past two years, nothing could stop the Tiongco family of Iloilo from celebrating Maria Cecilia’s much-awaited coming-out party a few moons ago. To be sure, they made it an intimate affair for family members only.
Maria Cecilia Golez-Tiongco, MC to friends, is the daughter of top-notch businessman and avid sportsman Dr. Napoleon Tiongco Jr. and Philippine Best-Dressed Awardee Sheilla Marie Golez- Tiongco.

The debutante’s outfit, an AJ Javier masterpiece, was perfection to behold. A stunning tiffany blue gown, it was accented with emeralds and diamonds from her mother’s collection.
For this elegant sit-down dinner, Iloilo’s most elusive chef, a name I cannot divulge, and who only caters to a privileged few, prepared a most delectable offering. The piece de resistance was the herb-crusted Angus grass-fed whole tenderloin of beef with roasted sweet potato pave and pan-seared brussels sprouts with bearnaise sauce on the side.
The feast was capped by a most delicious sliced citrus- flavored cake in Vanilla and Belgian Chocolate Swirl, putting contented smiles on everyone’s handsome and beautiful faces, but the sweetest was that of the lovely, charming and happy birthday girl, the grown-up lady, MC.
MC had been a consistent honor student and distinction awardee since her elementary and high school years. She is taking up B.S. Biology in preparation for Medicine following in her father’s footsteps. During school gaps, this young lady, together with her family, travels all over the world to broaden her horizon and perspective of life. She is the second of four good-looking siblings that include Judith Marie, Mary May and Third, their youngest brother.
Whether one refers to the celebrator, her family and guests, or the total party ambience, they were, without a doubt, class and sophistication rolled into one, indeed.
