The recent golden anniversary of the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, which was both virtual and face-to-face, saw the awarding of club presidents for achievements that make them outstanding in their own rights.
While all 23 presidents for the last 50 years were awarded trophies, Olivia Ferry received as well a pendant for being the only Filipina to become a president of Zonta International. In turn, two Zontians, Linda Panlilio and Bubbles Villafuerte, are two of the club’s charter members who have kept their membership to this day. Finally, Mita Rufino and Maritess Pineda have been the only presidents who served for two bienniums. Maritess was the president during the Zonta International centennial year while Vivian Uy served as the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs golden anniversary president. Incoming president is Alice Tesoro Guerrero.
If there’s anything that could be accurately said of these ladies, they have given of their time and resources when these were most needed. No wonder the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs has lasted this long.
