The national police (PNP) awarded the Blueguards Special Action Medal to Ateneo de Manila University guard Jeneven Bandiala, who died in the high-profile shooting incident.
The Bandiala family received it on the last day of the burial in Quezon City.
Bandiala’s remains transported to Lopez Jaena, Misamis Occidental, Thursday.
Maj Gen. Jesus Cambay Jr., Director of the PNP-Civil Security Group, said Bandiala’s action was a display of dedication to the sworn duty.
“The act of bravery exhibited by SG Bandiala is a strong manifestation of his exceptional conduct as a professional security guard,” Cambay said.
Bandiala was one of the three who were shot and killed in the shooting incident at Ateneo de Manila University on 24 July, including former Lamitan City Mayor Rose Furigay and his long-time aide Victor Capistrano.
