NL quake death toll climbs to 11

The death toll from the magnitude 7 earthquake that jolted Abra and other nearby Northern Luzon provinces last July 27 rose to 11.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday said the latest fatality was a resident of Tubo, Abra.

The latest data showed that a total of 119,730 families or 448,990 individuals in 1,188 barangays were affected by the major earthquake, with a total of 410 injured in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

The NDRRMC likewise reported a total of 30,285 houses were damaged, 5,331 of which are from the Ilocos Region, one in Cagayan Valley, 24,952 in CAR, and one in the National Capital Region (NCR).

An estimated P33.3 million worth of damage to agricultural facilities, equipment and machinery in the Cordillera.

The irrigation system damage in Ilocos Region and CAR amounted to PHP22.7 million.

Damage to infrastructure in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, CAR, and NCR is now at P1.27 billion.
