Caloocan launches youth sports camp

The Caloocan City government, through the Sports Development and Recreation Office (SDRO), launched a free sports camp to train the youth and develop new skills in basketball, chess, swimming, futsal, karate and taekwondo.

According to SDRO Chief Dindo Simpao, the said activity is in line with Caloocan City Mayor Along Malapitan’s advocacy to focus on programs for the youth, including sports-related activities.

“This is Mayor Along’s way to give a sense of normalcy to our youth in Caloocan who have been quarantined inside their homes due to the restrictions implemented during the height of the pandemic. Sa ganitong pamamaraan po, umaasa ang lokal na pamahalaan na magiging mas aktibo ang mga kabataan and eventually, baka maka-discover pa tayo ng mga Olympians,” the sports chief said.

The mayor also encouraged parents to sign up on behalf of their children to help them learn new skills, meet new people, and have fun at the same time.

The registration for the said sports camp is still on-going and can be accessed thru the link: bit.ly/CaloocanSports.
