Drug traffickers fall because of loose talk

Gossip sometimes helps bring good results.

With the help of rumor mongers or derisively called “Marites,” the authorities caught four people allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade in Valenzuela City, Thursday midnight.

Police Lt. Doddie Aguirre, chief of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Valenzuela City Police, identified the suspects as Morris Bacod, 18, Geoffrey Cardinez Jr., 19, Enrico Rosales Jr., 24, and Erwin Manuel, 34, all residents of Caloocan City.

It was around midnight when SDEU operatives conducted a buy-bust operation inside Gen. T. De Leon Market in Barangay Gen T. De Leon.

The operatives immediately arrested Bacod and Cardinez after they sold P32,000 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman along with Rosales and Manuel who were both also caught with a plastic sachet of suspected shabu.

Rumors help

Banter among people in the market resulted to the discovery of the illegal drug activity of Bacod and Cardinez until the information reached a police informant.

Meanwhile, about 110 grams of suspected shabu with a market price of P748,000, buy-bust money, three cellphones, and a black belt bag were seized from the suspects.

The four individuals face charges of violation of Section 5, 26, and 11 under Article of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs act of 2022.
