High-profile rape not a one-man deed

The mother of Princess Marie Dumantay, the 15 year old who was found dead in Bulacan, believes that there are many other individuals involved in her daughter’s murder besides the suspect who was arrested in Camarines Sur recently.

According to the report, Perlita Conde thanked the authorities for the immediate arrest of the primary suspect, Gaspar Maneja Jr.

“Bilang magulang, sa aking pakiramadam, hindi lang ito nag-iisang gumawa sa anak ko alam kong mayroong kasama itong gumawa sa anak ko. Alam mo, konsensya mo ‘yung ginawa mo sa anak ko,” Conde said.

Members of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) caught the suspect at his home in Pamplona, Camarines Sur.

Recovered from him was a black vehicle that authorities believe was used to dump Princess’ body in the densely populated area in Bustos, Bulacan where she was found on August 12.

Maneja allegedly met Princess in a bikers’ group.

“We traced him to the Pamplona area where we found him at his house but before he returned home, he hid in the forest,” said PLt. Col. Mederic Villarete, CIDG chief in Camarines Sur.

Maneja promised to cooperate with the investigation but according to the police, he had already confessed to the crime.

He also apologizes to the victim’s family who are affected by the situation.

He is currently in the custody of Bustos, Bulacan Police, and is facing charges of rape and murder.
