Missing boy fished off Pasig River

A 12-year-old boy reported missing since 15 August turned up dead Sunday, his body fished out of the Pasig River from under the Bacood-Mandaluyong Bridge in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

P/Lt. Dennis de Jesus, chief of the Manila Police District homicide section, said the boy fell into the river in Barangay Pinyahan in Quezon City while playing with friends.

His family reported the accident to the Quezon City Risk Reduction Office, but the search and rescue operation that was conducted proved fruitless.

Philippine Coast Guard personnel discovered the boy’s remains which were already in an advanced state of decomposition.

As the body was being turned over to MPD probers, a man who introduced himself as a Quezon City traffic enforcer claimed the boy to be his son.
