P20k to watch TI finals

DOTA 2 fans have to dig deep into their pockets to watch the finals of The International 11 from 29 to 30 October live at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Valve said tickets for the weekend finals of TI 11 cost SGD 498 — or a little over P20,000 — in which teams will collide for the Aegis of Champions.

On the other hand, tickets for the Playoffs amount SGD 88 — or roughly P3500 — that will be held from 20 to 23 October at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibit Centre.

Touted as the grandest Esports tournament in the world, TI brandishes the highest prize pool in history with its largest iteration amounting to $40 million or a whopping P2.2 billion.

“The event itself has been split into two separate sections: The Playoffs from 20 to 23 October and the Finals Weekend from 29 to 30 October,” Valve said in an announcement.

“The Playoffs will feature the top sixteen teams in DOTA 2 as they battle for a spot in the Finals. This part of the competition will be held at the Suntec Convention Center in Singapore, and tickets will be sold for the four days separately for a price of SGD 88 each.”

“The Finals Weekend will be the culmination of the event, where the four remaining teams compete to prove themselves worthy of claiming the Aegis of Champions. The Finals Weekend will be held at Singapore Indoor Stadium, and tickets will be available for SGD 498 — a single ticket allows entrance for both days.”

It took less than an hour for tickets to sell out as soon as they went on sale.

The Finals Weekend tickets were up on the market for only ten minutes while the Playoffs tickets took some 30 minutes to sell out.

Unfortunately for the fans who were not fast enough to get their hands on tickets, they may have to go through scalpers that are selling them for more than double, or sometimes triple the price.
