South Korean illustrator and animator Park Da-mi, also known as Puuung, features in her artworks a fictional protagonist couple who are in love with each other and find real love in small things.
Love is in Small Things is a long-term project that sees the artist translating such loving moments between couples into charming illustrations and pieces of animation. These artworks are available on her Instagram, YouTube and TikTok accounts. Her commissioned artworks and non-fungible tokens, meanwhile, can be seen via Facebook and Twitter.
Her book series Love is… appeared on a popular 2016 South Korean drama series, W: Two Worlds. She eventually became a
well-known illustrator across local and international social channels, even in Egypt and the whole Middle East.
“I can’t believe it. I’m honored,” Park said in an interview with Korea.net. “I’m so happy to hear that. It’s the result of love, I think. Love exists in everyone’s lives. Of course, it’s different from one person to another as to our object of love, the depth of love, the texture of love, and all that. Nonetheless, everyone loves something. I’m glad to know that’s true.”
Among Puuung’s fans is Filipino actor Anne Curtis, who commissioned the artist to turn a lovely photo of her and husband Erwan Heussaff into an adorable illustration, as her ninth anniversary gift to her husband on 2019. Curtis admitted that she is a huge fan of the illustrator. The photo that was turned into an artwork was part of the prenuptial shoot Curtis and Heussaff had in South Korea before they got married in 2017.
