Notorious Davao thief falls

A 20-year-old individual believed to be a notorious robbery suspect was shot dead after retaliating to responding police officers in the early morning of 21 August at Greenhills Street, San Rafael area, Barangay 9-A, Davao City.

The Davao City Police Office identified the slain robbery suspect as Jason Detros Lamaan, a resident of Barangay 76-A in the province.

Initial investigations disclosed that a certain Julieta Bolivar Olloy sought help from Mobile 19 of San Pedro Police Station personnel following a robbery incident, which prompted police to patrol the area.

The victim said that she was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by a male person later identified as Lamaan and revealed that the suspect allegedly took her P770,000 cash and assorted jewelry amounting to P30,000.

The police immediately responded and cornered the suspect around 1:40 in the morning and accosted the suspect. However, instead of yielding, the suspect fired at the police using a 38 revolver.

Authorities immediately returned fire and hit the suspect, who was rushed to Southern Medical Philippines Center Hospital for medical attention but was declared dead on arrival.
