Flagged for not wearing helmets, a motorcycle rider and the two minors he was with found themselves in a deeper hole after they tried to escape from a police checkpoint in Caloocan City, authorities reported yesterday.

Worse, the three motorcycle riders were allegedly found to possess shabu when they were caught after a brief chase Friday afternoon.

Caloocan police chief P/Col. Samuel Mina Jr. identified the arrested man as Rizalde Tubil, 25, a resident of Barangay 88 in the same city. The two minors were turned over to social welfare officers.

Personnel of the East Grace Park Police Substation 2 and District Mobile Force of the Northern Police District were conducting an “Oplan Sita” along Maria Clara Street of Barangay 109 at about 5 p.m.
when they stopped the motorcycle riders for not wearing helmets.

The three stopped but when they were told to follow the cops to the nearest precinct, they sped off prompting the policemen to give chase.

During a search, three sachets containing 6.69 grams of suspected shabu worth P45,492 were discovered to be in the possession of Tubil, thus a charge of drug pushing was filed against him.
