P571.1-M infrastructure damaged by ‘Florita’

At least P571.1 million in infrastructure damage was recorded after the severe tropical storm “Florita” hit the country on 21 August, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported Tuesday.

The figure covers P546.7 million in Ilocos Region and P24.4 million in Cagayan Valley.

Ilocos region has likewise recorded a total of P13,028,205 worth of agricultural products have been destroyed, while CALABARZON lost P10,850,000 due to irrigation damage.

Seven roads in Cordillera Administrative Region, two in Bicol with One bridge in Ilocos, and two in Cagayan remain non-passable.

The storm destroyed some 95 houses, of which 81 were partially damaged and 14 were totally wiped out, in CAR, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.

Power supplies were already restored in 45 out of 57 towns that experience electricity outages while one town still has no access to the water supply.

NDRRMC said the storm affected a total of 32,351 families or 131,235 invidiuals from 515 villages in regions of Ilocos, Bicol, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, CAR and Metro Manila, with at least three fatalities and four injured.
