Manila real property owners urged to pay online

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna advised real property owners in the city to pay online, saying its implementation is now a notch better with the issuance of an e-statement of account and e-receipt.

Lacuna said there are now two ways to pay the real property tax, which can either be manually or online through the Go Manila app.

She said with the online system, one can just use a cell phone, iPad, or computer to apply for RPT. Using the app, one can just click away until payment is done and a corresponding receipt has been issued.

With regard to manual payment, Lacuna cited the hassle of having to go all the way to Manila City Hall and, once there, inquiring where to proceed to pay their RPT, and then having to line up to get their SoA and then again, to pay.

“This is what we want to minimize that is why we are encouraging our constituents to pay online. It issues an e-Soa and an e-receipt,” she said.

“Once you have entered the Go Manila app, go to RPT payment where you will enter your tax declaration number and property identification number, from which your SoA will appear and then, you can choose whether to pay quarterly or yearly,” Lacuna explained.

When this is done, Lacuna said the taxpayer may choose the mode of payment, either through money transfer, bank or GCash, after which an e-OR or e-receipt will be issued.

She also announced that those who will pay before 10 December will be able to avail of a 20 percent discount, while those who will pay from 11 to 29 December will get 15 percent discount.

Those who choose to pay in January will still get a 10 percent discount.
