Abu Sayyaf member falls

ZAMBOANGA CITY — An alleged member of the Abu Sayyaf Group involved in the series of kidnappings of locals and foreigners was arrested by combined police forces in a Muslim-dominated village of Cabangan here.

Second Zamboanga City Mobile Force Company director P/Lt Col. Reynald E Ariño revealed that combined police authorities in this city and from Jolo, Sulu arrested a certain Jun Arip alias Jun Ayos at his temporary residence at Barangay Cabatangan on Tuesday night.

Arip is a native and resident of Sitio Tanjung, Barangay Kajatian, Jolo, Sulu. He is facing a string of criminal cases ranging from kidnapping with illegal detention in Sabah Malaysia and theft in Sulu.

According to Ariño, Arip was believed to be a notorious member of ASG sub-leader Apoh Mike who was known for his involvement in a series of kidnappings in Sabah Malaysia and Sulu.

The Abu Sayyaf member also has a standing warrant of arrest under criminal case number 3011-3 for violation of murder with no bail bond recommended and Criminal Case No. 3012-3 for simple theft with a recommended bail bond of P40,000 for each case.

P/Lt Ariel F. Jolatoria of the 2nd ZCMFC said Arip is presently detained at the 2nd ZCMFC for initial documentation before they will turn over him to Jolo MPS for disposition.
