Kidnapped Chinese national rescued

The Philippine National Police reported that local authorities in Batangas City rescued a kidnapped Chinese following the victim’s 20-day ordeal.

PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. revealed that the female Chinese national — whose name was withheld — was saved by Batangas City Police Station members at a convenience store in Barangay Alangilan, Batangas City on Thursday while they were chasing the suspects.

Azurin also said that a manhunt operation is already underway against the unidentified suspects.

Reports disclosed that the female victim was last seen on 16 September at a disco establishment in Barangay Balibago in Angeles City and upon further investigation, it was found out that the victim and her companion left the premises on past midnight of 17 September and went to an unknown direction.

The next day, the victim’s boyfriend received a call from an unknown caller who was asking $2 million or P116 million for her release. The boyfriend also received video clips of the female victim while being hit with a baseball bat in different parts of her body.

The PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group immediately responded to the report and was able to pinpoint the exact location where the victim was held by her kidnappers in Nueva Villa Subdivision Alangilan, Batangas City.

Some suspects are already identified and are now the subject of follow-up operations, the PNP chief said.

The victim is now under the custody of the PNP AKG for proper investigation and documentation.
