Why Lily Collins loves Charlie McDowell

“We can kind of conquer anything,” Lily Collins said about her husband Charlie McDowell.

“We’ve been through many changes globally, personally, and to have a partner next to you who makes you laugh in times when you need it most and helps you emotionally get through things, like moving to a foreign country for four months.”

Collins — daughter of musician Phil Collins and the star of the Netflix series Emily in Paris — was interviewed on 8 October on E! News at the 16th Annual GO Campaign Gala in Los Angeles.

McDowell — son of actors Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen, and The One I Love director whose Twitter account@charliemcdowell Time described as, “one of the most hilarious Twitter feeds out there — walked down the red carpet at the GO gala with his wife who was also the event’s host.

This is the second time Collins hosted the gala.

The GO Campaign raises awareness and funds to help orphans and vulnerable children worldwide.

Collins, 33, and McDowell, 39, started dating in August 2019, got engaged in 2020, and tied the knot on 3 September 2021 in Colorado.

“I’ve never wanted to be someone’s someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife. On 4th September 2021, we officially became each other’s forever. I love you beyond,” Collins captioned their wedding photo on Instagram.

Steenburgen herself posted on Instagram after the McDowell-Collins wedding:

“Charlie, my son, and Lily, my daughter-in-law!!! Thank you for letting us all bask in the sheer beauty of your love for each other. My heart is overflowing and it almost feels like the last few days were some sort of beautiful dream.

“But it is all real, and I feel like the luckiest mother in the world.”

For their first wedding anniversary, Collins on 30 September posted more photos on Instagram:

“Thank you for being my rock, my constant source of love and laughs, and my emotional support throughout our time here yet again.”

“Our faces pretty much sum up this season. We certainly know how to work hard and play hard together. I love you beyond @charliemcdowell and I couldn’t have done it without you.”
