Araneta City promotes breast cancer awareness

The world celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month every October to raise awareness about the disease and its early detection. Awareness is imperative since this disease is one of the most common forms of cancer, and one of the leading causes of death among women.

In the Philippines alone, three in every 100 Filipino women are diagnosed with breast cancer. So to help drum up awareness about breast cancer, Araneta City is undertaking activities to help inform more people about this disease and educate the public about the importance of early detection.

“Araneta City has always been about supporting worthy causes, and the campaign to raise breast cancer awareness has always been a huge thrust for us here in the City of Firsts,” said Marjorie Go, assistant vice president for Marketing of Araneta City.

“We believe that more people should be aware about the dangers of this disease, and the fact that it is perfectly manageable once we detect and treat it early,” she added.

On 15 October, the City of Firsts is having a series of activities for this campaign. There will be a free breast check-up at Ali Mall and Farmers Plaza to help promote early detection of the disease, and a free haircut at Farmers Plaza.

There will also be free indoor fitness activities on the same day to promote an active and more healthy lifestyle — a free ballroom class at Farmers Plaza, and a free dance fitness class at Ali Mall.
