Malabon fire razes 150 houses

An estimated 150 families lost their homes after a fire broke out in a residential area in Malabon City, Sunday before dawn.

It was 1:40 in the morning when a fire broke out in one of the houses in Block 1, Damata, Brgy. Tonsuya, the fire quickly spread to the adjacent houses that were all made of light materials.

Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel and fire volunteers immediately responded to the area where the fire was declared fire-out at 6:35 in the morning.

No one was reported injured or killed in the said incident, while the amount of property damage and the source of the fire are still being investigated.

The city government of Malabon, led by Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, immediately provided basic food, clean drinking water, mats and tents to the families who lost thier homes, they temporarily staying at the evacuation center in the covered court of Barangay Tonsuya.
