The local government of Manila announced that it is prepared for the planned transport strike on Monday being called by two big transport groups, Manibela and Piston, in protest of the impending fuel hike.
The Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, in coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will be monitoring the situation.
Emergency vehicles and e-trikes will be on standby for “Operation Libreng Sakay” in affected routes.
The LGU Manila has not yet announced any class suspensions, but Mayor Honey Lacuna is coordinating with the Division of City Schools-Manila regarding on the matter.
Meanwhile, several universities in Metro Manila have suspended their classes due to the planned transport strike.
The universities which suspended face-to-face classes were Adamson University, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University-Manila campus, De La Salle University-Laguna campus, Far Eastern University Manila and Makati campuses, FEU High School, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila, Miriam College, National University-Manila and Nazareth School, San Beda University-Rizal and Manila campuses, San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila, University of the East-Caloocan and Manila campuses and University of Santo Tomas.
