Netherlands Embassy promotes SDGs with #WokeWednesday series

The Netherlands Embassy, together with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, is putting the spotlight on organizations supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) with its #WokeWednesday series.

To date, five organizations have already been featured.

First up is Not A Daydream, a social enterprise that trains women in Tondo, Manila to create unique handmade bags. It continues to work with more female communities for handwoven fabrics to promote Philippine art.

Agriterra, an international and not-for-profit agri-agency, professionalizes farmers’ cooperatives and organizations in developing countries. It makes cooperatives bankable while creating real farmer-led businesses.

To promote the circular economy, Alaska Milk partnered with D&G Pacific Corporation to establish a Multi-layered Plastic Upcycling Facility in the Philippines. This project aims to collect, upcycle, and process 576 metric tons of plastics annually.

SolarNRG, on the other hand, promotes SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy by helping provide affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy for Filipinos.

For its fifth entry, the Embassy is featuring KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, a center of expertise for TB control that is committed to reducing TB in the Netherlands and worldwide.

The Embassy is also committed to upholding girl’s autonomy and rights in addressing challenges of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines. It recently joined 27 other organizations in a recent stakeholders meeting to pledge its support in continuing the campaign to avert teen pregnancy that is rights-based.
