Three buddies involved in the illegal sale of marijuana now keep each other company in jail after they were arrested by authorities in Navotas City in a buy-bust operation on Wednesday midnight.
In the report of Navotas City Police chief Dexter Ollaging, it was around past midnight when the Station Drug Enforcement Unit, led by P/Lt. Luis Rufo, conducted the raid on a house on T. Gonzales Street in Barangay San Jose.
A police poseur buyer managed to buy P500 worth of marijuana from suspects, identified as Jerico Macasil, 22; Robert Mangali, 22; and Jamil Bañares, 19.
After handing over the marked money, the suspects were immediately surrounded by back-up operatives.
Recovered from their possession were 18 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves with a street value of P2,160.
It turns out the three are longtime friends, but are newbies in the drug trade.
“We don’t know that they are doing it. Maybe they want easy money or save money maybe they want to study someday,” according to one of the their relatives.
The suspects are in the custody of the Navotas City police and will face charges of violation of Repiblic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
